Going Musicals Crazy Part II: Chicago [and all that JAZZ!]

I watched this one long long ago and recently re-watched it. I can never get tired of the songs. It was a true story, made glamorous and got made into a stage play. It was afterwards made into a musical, and I will be writing about the movie adaptation of the musical.

First of all, I never knew Renee Zellweger, Catherine Zeta-Jones and Richard Gere can sing. Sing, they did and they did it well. Queen Latifah sang good too, which is probably why she sang again in Hairspray.

The story was captivating because you see how it was back then with murder cases: the murderesses are put on trial, but there was more popularity fight amongst each other, than there was the desire to be acquited, as this was kind of like they five-minutes shot at fame by becoming a sensation and talk of the town. The bloodier the murder the hotter you are.

There was a cameo by Lucy Liu too [hot!] but she didn't sing tho.

My favourite songs definitely include "All That Jazz" [omg Cath Z-J is such a great singer!], "We Both Reached For The Gun", "Funny Honey", "Cell Block Tango" and "Roxie".

The cut from dialogue scenes to singing scenes is brilliant. The flow is great, and I LOVE the ending song, "Nowadays/Hot Honey Rag". I've blogged about this scene before so I won't repeat the same thing la.

Conclusion: SUPERB! BRAVO!
