Ahhh... One of the very limited number of beauties of Malaysia is the FOOD. Yes, food glorious food... And thanks to Amelia, I get to blog about my favourite foods!!!
I think I was supposed to do only one food la, but when you live in a place where good food is so accessible, you can't help but love more than one!!!! OK, let me start at Rojak Petis, aka Rojak Penang.
It is the type of rojak I've been eating my whole life until Jordan introduced Indian rojak, but I guess in the end the prawn paste won over the kuah kacang... huhuhuhu...
Allow me to introduce the basic ingredients of rojak petis as I know it.
It consists of
1) Prawn paste
2) Mengkuang
3) Green mango
4) Pineapple
5) Kangkong
6) Tauge (beansprout)
7) Ground groundnuts (sorry had to.. Huhuhu... I meant serbuk kacang la)
8) And my favouritest component of rojak petis: THE OVEN BAKED CRISPY YOU CHAR KUEY.
It is only when I Wiki-ed it that I found that petis means the prawn paste. More accurately petis udang. So anyways, the best rojak petis was from a van vendor, who comes to around Selesa Jaya flats to sell the rojak. The owner has recorded his voice shouting, "Rojak! Asam Laksa! [and the last part I never figured out even after 2, 3 years]" and then he plays the whole damn annoying thing over and over again, but bless that fella, his rojak is quite a big proportion and it's damn yummy! [Was about to upload a picture of the rojak petis I Wiki-ed, but the wireless here macam cannot let me upload a pic. Sienz...]
So, moving on to the second food I like the most, The Laksa Johor aka Curry Laksa. It is not curry, but it uses santan. It is curry laksa. *drool macam orang gila* The best ones I've tried are old stalls, and man, they're good!
OK, the stalls are...
1) The one in Nong Chik, the one managed by the sisters. I once heard a rumour saying that what makes any laksa taste good is the cacing powder. But I choose not to believe that crap, because if I like the food not gonna want to agomise about whether I should take it because there's CACING POWDER in it. Huhuhuhuhu....
2) The one near Broadway Cinema in JB. The one at the corner near the temple la... You sometimes cannot catch the stall open... This one gotta see luck one. But the shop itself is very old school kopitiam, and it is a very nice and warm environment to have you food. The slow place in a fast town... Hahahahaha...
I still have some more foods to mention la.. But if I carry on I might not finish this meme... I know how hard it is to do this meme, just gonna say, whoever wants to do it can do it la... hahahah...
